Great product! Installed 4 in Bachmann Spectrum steam locomotives. Very flexible customizing operation. Plays loud, nice whistle and bell sound. Extremely happy with outcome at a great price! XL Systems provides excellent customer support if needed.

Added this to an old roundhouse Box Cab and Climax… A great way to update some old favorites… XL Systems excels in timely support…

I bought this and the one with the 28MM baffled speaker. The decoder was exactly the same and was supper easy to install and understand. I would say that the 28MM baffled speaker sounds much better. I switched them back and forth and just better sound. Personally for $2 bucks more go for the better speaker. That said, this was another impeccable product from XL Systems and the customer service was spectacular as well.

I only rated this as a three because I don’t have enough time spent with it yet. Out of the less expensive decoders there are, I think these are really good. I have this installed in a Athearn 2-8-2 Mikado. It does run real nice, sounds are good as well. My biggest issue is if they supported cv 5 & 6 for mid range & top voltages. This makes speed matching to other locos difficult, it can be done but takes awhile. I normally use Soundtraxx & I do have a few ESU decoders as well. Like I said program cv 5& 6 into these and keep price low like you have, and you will sell a pile of these. Time will tell how long they last but I have an old one in a Athearn sd60m and it is still going. Give these a try & a chance you might be surprised.
