For whatever reason, the older Rivarossi articulated steam engines did not like the # 1911 sound decoder, plus I had a couple with only “no sound” decoders, so I decided to “marry” the Digitrax decoders with #1908 sound only decoders and it was a perfect match. The newer Rivarossi steam engines, especially the DCC ready ones, have no problems with the XL #1911 sound decoders.
